To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Paulão Araújo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Beruri's Felippe Favoretto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Parahyba's Guto de Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felippe Favoretto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Juvenal Hames fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 50th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente do Vale having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juvenal Hames got free with Vicente do Vale in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
