The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Samuca Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenílson Veloso having to interfere. Lenílson Veloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anísio da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erivaldo Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Guarandi EC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Fiori Queiroz hit a great ball. Bruninho Arantes struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Silvinho Albuquerque didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Roncadon. Erivaldo Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Silvinho Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lenílson Veloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Tinoco in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuca Tinoco in the 33rd minute of play forced Roncadon's goalkeeper Lenílson Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erivaldo Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Silvinho Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When Rômulo Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Roncadon's protests and gave Rômulo Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Roncadon's Rômulo Urbano got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Anísio da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guarandi EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Anísio da Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lenílson Veloso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 60 minutes, Bruninho Arantes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Roncadon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruninho Arantes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Guarandi EC's zone, Bruninho Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvinho Albuquerque came out of the goal and Bruninho Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th minute, Anísio da Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lenílson Veloso came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Guarandi EC's Samuca Tinoco. But to his dismay, Samuca Tinoco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Fiori Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guarandi EC's protests and gave Fiori Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute, Fiori Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guarandi EC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
