The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the match, Taquarituba EC's goalkeeper Sydney Pitta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Telmo Gaúcho. After a rather tough play, Taquarituba EC's Luiz Gustavo Nunes got a free kick in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that Luís Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sydney Pitta was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Cupixi FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Taquarituba EC:s goal. The referee gave Taquarituba EC a penalty, 30 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Erik Monteiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cupixi FC's Wanderson Magalhães. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Breckenfeld in the 35th minute of play forced Cupixi FC's goalkeeper Wanderson Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Humberto Breckenfeld recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Telmo Gaúcho made a precise shot to the right of Sydney Pitta. Taquarituba EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Telmo Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Gustavo Nunes charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Gustavo Nunes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cupixi FC booed when Taquarituba EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Gustavo Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute, Anderson Viana sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Taquarituba EC's Sydney Pitta didn't even have to move. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Luís Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cupixi FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Schmidt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sydney Pitta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 71 minutes into the match, Luiz Gustavo Nunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wanderson Magalhães. Cupixi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Gustavo Nunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The tension between the Taquarituba EC and the Cupixi FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Taquarituba EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
