Delfim Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Agostinho Vinhas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Vargedo SC's Joaquim Castro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alberto Passos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, José Salgado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dracena's supporters rose to their feet, but José Salgado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agostinho Vinhas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alberto Passos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvaldo Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Gilson Prata's late challenge caught a Vargedo SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilson Prata helped the player get up and apologised. Gilson Prata hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. When Edvaldo Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Vargedo SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edvaldo Nascimento couldn't finish the play. If Joaquim Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umberto Machado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Agostinho Vinhas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Delfim Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Agostinho Vinhas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 71 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vargedo SC! When the match had been going on for 72 minutes, Dracena's Eusébio Monteiro got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Agostinho Vinhas. In the last second Agostinho Vinhas throw himself and got hold of the ball when Delfim Santos in the 78thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Umberto Machado struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Agostinho Vinhas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dracena. If Edvaldo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th match minute, Vargedo SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doriva Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. Dracena's Eusébio Monteiro shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 86th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Agostinho Vinhas but with some difficulty. In the 91st minute, Delfim Santos fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Agostinho Vinhas, passed just outside the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Umberto Machado got free with Agostinho Vinhas in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 94thth minute of the game Delfim Santos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vargedo SC's Agostinho Vinhas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 96th minute by José Salgado got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.
