In the 6th minute Ronaldão Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amauri Maranhense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Pimenta charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roger Pimenta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Caieiras SS's Roger Pimenta got a free kick in the 7th minute. Hélder Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elivélton Paraíba in the 10th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Walmyr Santos sped through Belem SS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hélder Pinho. In the 19th minute, Carlos Prestes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 23rd minute, Carlos Prestes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amauri Maranhense was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Luizinho Toledo hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 37th match minute, Caieiras SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Quaresma to maneuver through the defense. Belem SS's Osvaldinho Koehler shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 38th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Amauri Maranhense but with some difficulty. Osvaldinho Koehler charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osvaldinho Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Belem SS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 41st minute. Penalty! Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walmyr Santos to make the kick off. If Carlos Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amauri Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the game, Belem SS's Carlos Prestes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amauri Maranhense made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. A collision led to Belem SS getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Ronaldão Reis hit a great ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 67 minutes into the game, when Júlio Quaresma put in a rough tackle. In the 66th minute, one of Caieiras SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caieiras SS. 72 minutes into the game, Carlos Prestes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Amauri Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 79 played minutes Belem SS got a freekick which was hit by Luizinho Toledo. Belem SS's Hélder Pinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Belem SS from getting a goal against them. In the 83rdth minute of the game Carlos Prestes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caieiras SS's Amauri Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 83 minutes, Tomás de Andrade mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caieiras SS and the Belem SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Belem SS booed when Caieiras SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Belem SS's Osvaldinho Koehler couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 96th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Caieiras SS. Caieiras SS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
