Eliézer Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. The supporters of Mombaco booed when Tomasio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Zonta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz de Barros got free with Orlando Abreu in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, Tomasio's Arnaldo Sena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliézer Costa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Luiz de Barros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Orlando Abreu. Tomasio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz de Barros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 28th minute, Luiz de Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eliézer Costa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Serginho Meira's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Eliézer Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnaldo Sena struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Eliézer Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tomasio. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Arnaldo Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliézer Costa having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Tomasio's Eliézer Costa threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Arnaldo Sena, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Serginho Meira struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Eliézer Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tomasio. Carlinhos Neto hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Telmo Linhares sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mombaco's Eliézer Costa didn't even have to move. Bernardo Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Bernardo Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luiz de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomasio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz de Barros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Tomasio's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
