In the 18th minute Cléber Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dalmo da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bruno da Mata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bruno da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bruno da Mata charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruno da Mata the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Bruno da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guapimirim's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruno da Mata was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The referee ignored Encano's protests and gave Tarcisio Dias a yellow card for diving instead. Dito Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Dalmo da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time.
