Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zacarias Gomes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geovanni Loureiro's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Renato Braga hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Juan Senna, 32 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Renato Braga's late challenge caught a Brilhantina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Renato Braga helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Caxanga SS's Renato Braga got a free kick in the 36th minute. After some careless play in the Caxanga SS defense, Percival de Medeiros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Barreto. The Caxanga SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Barreto should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Percival de Medeiros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Barreto. Caxanga SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Percival de Medeiros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Caxanga SS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Brilhantina were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Geovanni Loureiro made the kick off in the second half. Zacarias Gomes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Augusto Cardozo in the 55th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Brilhantina's Marcos Lara got a free kick in the 56th minute. After 63 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brilhantina! In the 64th minute there was a penalty for Caxanga SS. Luís Eduardo Cordeiro stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zacarias Gomes. 1-2. 68 minutes into the game, Geovanni Loureiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Zacarias Gomes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcos Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percival de Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zacarias Gomes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovanni Loureiro in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th match minute, Brilhantina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paulo Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. Percival de Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Marcos Barreto made a huge save. Carlos Augusto Cardozo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Zacarias Gomes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
