The audience thought a goal was coming when Victor Brodel got free with Arnaldo Peres in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tadeu de Almeida made a kick off. In the 54th minute Antônio Carlos Araújo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Victor Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute Tadeu de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toninho Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, Dorizon EC's goalkeeper Toninho Trigo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wiliam Negri. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tadeu de Almeida in the 75th minute of play forced Dorizon EC's goalkeeper Toninho Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Marineli eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
