The supporters of Cuiabazinho SC booed when Carnica SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agenor Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute Noel Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sérgio Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel Freire in the 27th minute of the match. The long shot by Olavo Goiano in the 34th minute really tested Cristiano Félix's skills. After having played for 37 minutes, Percival Branco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cuiabazinho SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percival Branco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Percival Branco might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sérgio Dias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percival Branco ran back to his position shaking his head. Aílton Dias took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 44th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sérgio Dias. Carnica SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cuiabazinho SC's goalkeeper Cristiano Félix, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Benedito Saldanha was extremely unlucky when he, in the 49th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Guto Peixoto fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cuiabazinho SC's protests and gave Guto Peixoto a yellow card for diving instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Cuiabazinho SC's Cristiano Félix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davi Faria in the 74th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Davi Faria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristiano Félix was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. 81 minutes into the match, Carnica SC's goal looked a bit too open when Percival Branco came free, but Sérgio Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Cuiabazinho SC's Giovanni Mazza got a free kick in the 91st minute.
