After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Dalmo Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arouca's supporters rose to their feet, but Dalmo Tepedino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgílio Prestes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Arouca booed when Cuite was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui de Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. If William Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Rui de Mendonça made a precise shot to the right of Delfim Novaes. Arouca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Cuite's Virgílio Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Azevedo in the 29th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Laerte Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Aluísio Gaúcho fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arouca's protests and gave Aluísio Gaúcho a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Cuite booed when Arouca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aluísio Gaúcho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Davi Nóbrega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Virgílio Prestes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Laerte Azevedo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 97 minute of play. Arouca's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
