The long shot by Wellington Rocha in the 5th minute really tested Fiori Prestes's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Osvaldo Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiori Prestes having to interfere. Dionísio Cosme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manolo de Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexsandro Ferreira during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Jaguaquara booed when Ponciano EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dionísio Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manolo de Brito having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonel Vides in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manolo de Brito prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Manolo de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Vides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fiori Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tostão Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Leonel Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Ponciano EC's goal looked a bit too open when Dionísio Cosme came free, but Manolo de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fiori Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tostão Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 46th minute, Osvaldo Cordeiro fired away a shot that was totally unreachable for Fiori Prestes. The ball ended up just outside the left post, and Ponciano EC's manager could be seen angrily pacing the sidelines. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Leonel Vides made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Dionísio Cosme ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manolo de Brito was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Osvaldo Cordeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osvaldo Cordeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Osvaldo Cordeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Ponciano EC's Tostão Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dionísio Cosme in the 82ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Manolo de Brito, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ponciano EC's Manolo de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Vides in the 83rd minute of play. After 87 played minutes Jaguaquara got a freekick which was hit by Iuri de Queirós. After recieving a nice pass, Ponciano EC's Eusébio da Mata tried to score from far away in the 88th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. A collision led to Jaguaquara getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Iuri de Queirós hit a great ball. Tostão Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Osvaldo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Fiori Prestes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaguaquara's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
