The supporters of Cotegipe booed when Macaroca AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Vidal didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Macaroca AD's zone, Ramón de Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tião da Silva came out of the goal and Ramón de Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 12 minutes, Enio Guedes made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Cotegipe's Elder Ceresso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Tião da Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramón de Queirós in the 19th minute of play forced Macaroca AD's goalkeeper Tião da Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 24 minutes, Aírton Bueno made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Macaroca AD's Tião da Silva tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 27 minutes into the match, Cotegipe's Ramón de Queirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tião da Silva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Ramón de Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Cotegipe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramón de Queirós couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute Luizão Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Ceresso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luizão Fantini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elder Ceresso having to make a save. Luizão Fantini struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Elder Ceresso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Macaroca AD. After a rather tough play, Cotegipe's Luizinho Cordeiro got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Léo Novaes sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cotegipe's Elder Ceresso didn't even have to move. Enio Guedes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Elder Ceresso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

A collision led to Cotegipe getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Luizinho Cordeiro hit a great ball. Luizão Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elder Ceresso was left in no man's land by his defense there! 64 minutes into the game, Macaroca AD's Luizão Fantini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Elder Ceresso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. With an all-out effort, Cotegipe's Tião da Silva threw himself towards the right post 68 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ramón de Queirós, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After having played for 70 minutes, Enio Guedes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Macaroca AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enio Guedes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
