The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisinho Leão got free with Armando Araújo in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 10th match minute, Macuripe SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Pinheiro to maneuver through the defense. Armando Araújo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diamantino Recife in the 11th minute of the match. Armando Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 19th minute Ronaldinho Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Guerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Macuripe SS's Osvaldo Rosa got a free kick in the 27th minute. Eusébio Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nestor Amorim in the 29th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Gomes in the 32nd minute of play forced Lanceiro's goalkeeper Eusébio Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mateus Paes kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Ronaldinho Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Eusébio Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mateus Paes kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Nestor Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronaldinho Gomes was the one to do the kick off. Nestor Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Eusébio Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute Luisinho Leão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lanceiro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Osvaldo Rosa was slow to take the kick. During this time Macuripe SS's players had a chance to rest. Armando Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisinho Leão in the 68th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Ronaldinho Gomes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Macuripe SS booed when Lanceiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manoel Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osvaldo Rosa, 75 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Ronaldinho Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Macuripe SS's Nestor Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute Diamantino Recife shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldinho Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
