The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Zacarias SC booed when Geolandia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jânio Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Edmílson Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Geolandia's goalkeeper Nilson Lucas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doni Bittencourt. In the 20th match minute, Zacarias SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kiko Maciel to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 24th minute by Doni Bittencourt got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Geolandia getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Naldo da Rocha hit a great ball. After having played for 30 minutes, Edmílson Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Geolandia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmílson Macedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nilson Lucas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Benedito de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmílson Macedo in the 45th minute of play. Nilson Lucas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernani Pombal in the 46th minute of the match. 48 minutes into the match, Geolandia's goal looked a bit too open when Hernani Pombal came free, but Nilson Lucas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

If Hernani Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edvaldo Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kiko Maciel during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Zacarias SC's Kiko Maciel got a free kick in the 69th minute. Laerte Neves's late challenge caught a Zacarias SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laerte Neves helped the player get up and apologised. Laerte Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Hernani Pombal struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Nilson Lucas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zacarias SC. If Doni Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilson Lucas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hernani Pombal in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nilson Lucas saved Geolandia from getting behind. 95 minutes into the match, Geolandia's Jânio Albuquerque broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Zacarias SC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
