Zézinho Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Renato Nóbrega, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Elói Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th match minute, Reeve AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidnei Macedo to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the match, Paulo Renato Nóbrega notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Reeve AD's Zézinho Paes. Zézinho Paes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Penasco EC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Armindo de Queirós hit a great ball. Luís Guilherme Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidnei Macedo in the 16th minute of the match. Amauri Braga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner ended in Doriva Luz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Penasco EC's Luís Guilherme Maia did a great save. Sidnei Macedo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luís Guilherme Maia came out and tried to block the shot, but Sidnei Macedo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 29th minute. Amauri Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Luís Guilherme Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Luís Guilherme Maia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sidnei Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Guilherme Maia having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Elói Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zézinho Paes was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sidnei Macedo to make the kick off. Luís Guilherme Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amauri Braga in the 53rd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 55 minutes into the game, when Jano Abraão put in a rough tackle. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Penasco EC! In the 57th minute there was a penalty for Reeve AD. Doriva Luz stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luís Guilherme Maia. 2-1. 61 minutes into the match, Penasco EC's goal looked a bit too open when Sidnei Macedo came free, but Luís Guilherme Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Amauri Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reeve AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Amauri Braga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Guilherme Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Amauri Braga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sidnei Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Luís Guilherme Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Penasco EC's Elói Seco got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Penasco EC booed when Reeve AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 85 played minutes Reeve AD got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Mandrak. Elói Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Zézinho Paes made a huge save. With a little luck, Reeve AD's Zézinho Paes got control of the ball when Elói Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Elói Seco struck a weak shot in the 99th minute. Zézinho Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penasco EC.
