Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Evaristo Prado kicked off to start the match. In the 3rd match minute, Varzea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Cavalcante to maneuver through the defense. When Osmar Soares came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Jericoacoara SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osmar Soares couldn't finish the play. In the 14th minute, Elias Cavalcante left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varzea fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jericoacoara SC's goalkeeper Raimundo Senna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 36 minutes, Gildo Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jericoacoara SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gildo Pontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gildo Pontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Hernani Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Varzea's Elias Cavalcante got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 64th minute, Artur Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elias Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Senna having to interfere. Gildo Pontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Hernani Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Jericoacoara SC's goalkeeper Raimundo Senna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elias Cavalcante. Raimundo Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evaristo Prado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Elias Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jericoacoara SC's Raimundo Senna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Jericoacoara SC from getting a goal against them. 83 minutes into the game, Juan Paranaense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jericoacoara SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varzea the free kick. Raimundo Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo Prado in the 87th minute of the match. Elias Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Senna having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Evaristo Prado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elias Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Varzea supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Varzea would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
