After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Serginho Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palheta EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Serginho Barbosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jano Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Pedrão Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute, Andrézinho Paranaense had to leave the field with a concussion. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Duarte Novaes during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Guamiranga SC's Duarte Novaes got a free kick in the 14th minute. Caco Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clemente Alcântara in the 20th minute of the match. Palheta EC's Caco Quirino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Renato Botelho in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 23 minutes, Serginho Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palheta EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serginho Barbosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Caco Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Renato Botelho in the 29th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Palheta EC's zone, Clemente Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caco Quirino came out of the goal and Clemente Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Clemente Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caco Quirino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clemente Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 36 played minutes Palheta EC got a freekick which was hit by Baltazar Reis. Luiz Gustavo Souto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Caco Quirino. Palheta EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Serginho Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luizão Mandrak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Luizão Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Paulo Renato Botelho made the kick off in the second half. Clemente Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Caco Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Clemente Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Guamiranga SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Alcântara couldn't finish the play. After 62 played minutes Palheta EC got a freekick which was hit by Jairo Viana. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paulo Renato Botelho in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Caco Quirino saved Palheta EC from getting behind. Paulo Renato Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Quirino having to interfere. Caco Quirino didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Clemente Alcântara went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Guamiranga SC booed when Palheta EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrão Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute, Duarte Novaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Serginho Barbosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jano Braga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play.
