Régis Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natã Netto having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, Mesquita's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Xavier came free, but Natã Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Antônio Carlos França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Cearense in the 10th minute of the match. In the 16th minute Luisão Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natã Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Régis Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manfredo Lago's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Antônio Carlos França skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Manfredo Lago could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Antônio Carlos França made a huge save. Antônio Carlos França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Pirani in the 26th minute of the match. Manfredo Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos França having to interfere. Antônio Carlos França made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Manfredo Lago sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Junqueira's Raí Borges got a free kick in the 30th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Cristiano Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mesquita's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Manfredo Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the game, Mauro Cearense recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Antônio Carlos França. Mauro Cearense showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. In the 38th minute Roger de Alcântara suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 38 minutes, Wilson Proença mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mesquita and the Junqueira players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mesquita getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Wilson Proença hit a great ball. When Junqueira's Luisão Passos in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mesquita's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luisão Passos to make the kick off. Manfredo Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos França having to interfere. Antônio Carlos França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfredo Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manfredo Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Antônio Carlos França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Mauro Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfredo Lago blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Carlos França having to make a save. 75 minutes into the game, Mesquita's Mauro Cearense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antônio Carlos França made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Mauro Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manfredo Lago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Antônio Carlos França read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd match minute, Junqueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Régis Freire to maneuver through the defense. In the 86thth minute of the game Manfredo Lago who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Junqueira's Antônio Carlos França was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mauro Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Antônio Carlos França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mesquita walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
