The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgar Monteiro got free with Didi Furtado in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute, Jano Zilles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anapolandia's Edgar Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mateus Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Anapolandia defense, Mateus Severo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júlio Galvão. The Anapolandia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júlio Galvão should have stopped the shot. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Anapolandia's goalkeeper Júlio Galvão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vicente das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Júlio Galvão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian de Senna in the 37th minute of play. Didi Furtado made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Edgar Monteiro sent off a good shot on target. Wellington Baptista received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Didi Furtado came out and tried to block the shot, but Wellington Baptista slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 40th minute. Anapolandia's Edgar Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Anapolandia booed when Itabirinha AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Didi Furtado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jano Zilles in the 64th minute of play. After 75 played minutes Anapolandia got a freekick which was hit by Zé Carlos Machado. After having played for 78 minutes, Cristian de Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itabirinha AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian de Senna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Mateus Severo came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Itabirinha AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mateus Severo couldn't finish the play. Anapolandia's Edgar Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Itabirinha AD's Cipriano Silveira got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 88th minute, Edgar Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itabirinha AD eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
