Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sabino Freire in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mané Alves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paulinho Quirino struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Amauri Perez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fojo. Carlos Fernando de Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37thth minute of the game Sabino Freire who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fojo's Mané Alves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fojo's Paulinho Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mané Alves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sabino Freire in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Fernando de Queirós was the one to do the kick off. If Sabino Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mané Alves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando de Queirós in the 55th minute of the match. Vânderson Rodrigues charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vânderson Rodrigues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Fojo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Recanto EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
