Josué Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Itambacuri EC's Víktor Nogueira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Josué Eger narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Guga Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute, one of Tapirapua EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tapirapua EC. Arnaldo Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Afonsinho Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Arnaldo Melo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Afonsinho Netto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 28th minute, Víktor Nogueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Josué Eger was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Severino Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josué Eger having to interfere. Arnaldo Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Víktor Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josué Eger having to interfere. If Guga Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Itambacuri EC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Severino Cruz hit a great ball. A hard shot by Arthur Valle from long distance, 44 minutes into the match, got Afonsinho Netto's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Jonas Recife fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itambacuri EC's protests and gave Jonas Recife a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tapirapua EC booed when Itambacuri EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sérgio de Lara during the 48th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 49th minute, Sérgio de Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

After a rather tough play, Tapirapua EC's Adhemar Toscano got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Víktor Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itambacuri EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Víktor Nogueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josué Eger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Víktor Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Afonsinho Netto came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Tapirapua EC's Arnaldo Almeida. But to his dismay, Arnaldo Almeida quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. When Arnaldo Melo came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Tapirapua EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Melo couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Itambacuri EC defense, Arnaldo Almeida kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Afonsinho Netto. The Itambacuri EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afonsinho Netto should have stopped the shot. Guga Fantini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Josué Eger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Víktor Nogueira in the 79th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Itambacuri EC's goal looked a bit too open when Arnaldo Almeida came free, but Afonsinho Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guga Fantini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Víktor Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tapirapua EC's Arnaldo Melo in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Itambacuri EC's goalie prevented a goal. Aílton Neves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Afonsinho Netto having to make a save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Itambacuri EC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tapirapua EC.
