If Jefferson Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Murillo Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Durvalino Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sidnei de Souza during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th match minute, Rebojo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidnei de Souza to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute of the match Jardel de Amorim shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Murillo Marinho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rebojo's goalkeeper Murillo Marinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sidnei de Souza was shown his second yellow card after 10 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Tião Brasil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Murillo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Murillo Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute Tião Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murillo Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Rebojo booed when Itamuri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tião Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Durvalino Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Luiz Paulo Terra came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Rebojo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Paulo Terra couldn't finish the play. In the 26thth minute of the game Tião Brasil who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rebojo's Murillo Marinho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Durvalino Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murillo Marinho having to interfere. If Durvalino Tepedino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Murillo Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Brasil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Paulo Terra in the 38thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nilson Messias, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Tião Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 42 played minutes Rebojo got a freekick which was hit by Manoel Toscano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Tepedino in the 46th minute of play forced Rebojo's goalkeeper Murillo Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tião Brasil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Murillo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Paulo Terra to make the kick off. Tião Brasil was extremely unlucky when he, in the 59th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Murillo Marinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tião Brasil in the 68th minute of play. Durvalino Tepedino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Murillo Marinho having to make a save. Benjamim Cerezo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilson Messias having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Luiz Paulo Terra notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Itamuri's Nilson Messias. Nilson Messias was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Itamuri getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Geovani Vidal hit a great ball. Itamuri's Tião Brasil got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jefferson Netto's late challenge caught a Itamuri's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jefferson Netto helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th minute, Jefferson Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Durvalino Tepedino in the 97thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Murillo Marinho, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
