Hernani Machado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of Mathias de Godoy when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Willian Garcia fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Eucum's protests and gave Willian Garcia a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Eucum's Willian Garcia got a free kick in the 10th minute. If Baltazar Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Régis de Souza in the 15th minute of play forced Eucum's goalkeeper Lúcio Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lúcio Marinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Régis de Souza in the 16th minute of the match. Mathias de Godoy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Tavares in the 21st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Pedrinho Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot. The audience was convinced that Baltazar Pires's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Marinho was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Taunay's Mathias de Godoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Tavares in the 69th minute of play. A beautiful save bye Eucum's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Eucum booed when Taunay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Víktor Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the game, Toninho de Senna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taunay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Eucum the free kick. In the 93rd minute, Toninho de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
