Olavo Toledo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Taunay. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvério Carvalho during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Silvério Carvalho hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baltazar Pires in the 16th minute of play forced Itapeteiu's goalkeeper Olavo Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 16 played minutes Itapeteiu got a freekick which was hit by Naldo Veiga. In the 18th minute, Baltazar Pires got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Taunay's Mathias de Godoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesinha Britto in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute Cesinha Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathias de Godoy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Itapeteiu booed when Taunay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oséias Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute of the match, Régis de Souza got a very nice opportunity to score, but Olavo Toledo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesinha Britto in the 33rd minute of play forced Taunay's goalkeeper Mathias de Godoy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34thth minute of the game Cesinha Britto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Taunay's Mathias de Godoy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Silas Freire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mathias de Godoy was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Itapeteiu's Olavo Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baltazar Pires in the 38th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cesinha Britto in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mathias de Godoy saved Taunay from getting behind.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Baltazar Pires to strike the kick off in the second half. Régis de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Olavo Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olavo Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Pires in the 59th minute of the match. The supporters of Taunay booed when Itapeteiu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luiz Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Taunay's Víktor Queiroz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Baltazar Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Olavo Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Baltazar Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Régis de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taunay's supporters rose to their feet, but Régis de Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Taunay's Mathias de Godoy got control of the ball when Silas Freire tried to sneak it across the goal line. Baltazar Pires's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olavo Toledo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Itapeteiu's Cesinha Britto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mathias de Godoy. That made the score 0-1 after 80 minutes of play. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Taunay's goalkeeper Mathias de Godoy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Itapeteiu's Cesinha Britto got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Toninho de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Taunay's goalkeeper Mathias de Godoy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 91 minutes into the match, Cesinha Britto notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Taunay's Mathias de Godoy. Mathias de Godoy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Itapeteiu had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
