After having played for 3 minutes, Clemente Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mundeos SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clemente Lago was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivo Cabral's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 5thth minute, Guilherme de Mendonça skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 9th minute, Clemente Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Mundeos SC booed when Grupiara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clemente Lago did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Guilherme de Mendonça 12 minutes into the match. Guilherme de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clemente Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clemente Lago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guilherme de Mendonça read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. After 26 minutes, Osvaldinho de Souza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grupiara and the Mundeos SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clemente Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Mundeos SC booed when Grupiara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Délio Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedé de Mendonça having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Grupiara's José Vítor de Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dedé de Mendonça narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mundeos SC's Clemente Lago was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 47th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Clemente Lago made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Grupiara defense, Ivo Cabral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guilherme de Mendonça. The Grupiara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guilherme de Mendonça should have stopped the shot. 63 minutes into the game, Hélio Oliveira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grupiara's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mundeos SC the free kick. After 63 played minutes Grupiara got a freekick which was hit by Hélio Oliveira. Mundeos SC's Dedé de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Mundeos SC from getting a goal against them. Délio Rocha was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 69th minute. Grupiara's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Délio Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedé de Mendonça having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Grupiara's zone, Ivo Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guilherme de Mendonça came out of the goal and Ivo Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75th minute, Osvaldinho de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Washington Abreu fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grupiara's protests and gave Washington Abreu a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mundeos SC booed when Grupiara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Washington Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfredão Lopez, 78 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Dedé de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Délio Rocha in the 86th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, José Vítor de Barros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dedé de Mendonça. Mundeos SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Vítor de Barros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mundeos SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Grupiara had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
