Alagoa's Egídio Sabóia couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 11th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ezequiel SS. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sydney Meirelles in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Narciso Rodrigues prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Alagoa booed when Ezequiel SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilmar Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sydney Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Sydney Meirelles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Narciso Rodrigues. Ezequiel SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sydney Meirelles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Sydney Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Alagoa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sydney Meirelles couldn't finish the play. Nilmar Mattos hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Narciso Rodrigues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sydney Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Narciso Rodrigues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sydney Meirelles in the 41st minute of play. Sydney Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Narciso Rodrigues having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Juninho Meira made a precise shot to the right of Narciso Rodrigues. Ezequiel SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Alagoa's zone, Evaristo Linhares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Bertassi came out of the goal and Evaristo Linhares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evaristo Linhares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Pedro Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 60th minute Telmo Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilmar Mattos kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. If Evaristo Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 76 minutes into the match, Ezequiel SS's Evaristo Linhares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Bertassi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Sydney Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 minutes, João Vítor dos Santos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ezequiel SS and the Alagoa players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Alagoa players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
