When the match had been going on for 23 minutes, Pacaparra's Valério Mendes got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Egídio Abraão. 28 minutes into the match, Pacaparra's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Rodrigues came free, but Leonardo de Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Betão Costa hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After having played for 30 minutes, Maurinho Ferraz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cariugonga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurinho Ferraz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pacaparra's Leonardo de Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Rodrigues in the 36th minute of play. When Maurinho Ferraz came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Cariugonga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurinho Ferraz couldn't finish the play. Leonardo de Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinho Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pacaparra's goalkeeper Leonardo de Castro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Claudinho Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
