In the 13th minute, Eugênio Quadros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Eugênio Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cafe AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Eugênio Quadros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Didi Guimarães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 22 played minutes Cafe AD got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Vianna. In the 31st minute, Cafe AD's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cacá de Medeiros fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The referee ignored Cafe AD's protests and gave Dráusio Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute there was a penalty for Insu SC. Régis Lima stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Vicente Novaes. 1-0. After some careless play in the Insu SC defense, David Mello kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Didi Guimarães. The Insu SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Didi Guimarães should have stopped the shot. After 97 minutes, Bebeto Figueiredo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cafe AD and the Insu SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Insu SC booed when Cafe AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Figueiredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 98 minutes into the match, Insu SC's Régis Lima broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
