Fiori Mesquita started the match with the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugênio Quadros got free with Cesinha Tróia in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 7 minutes into the match, David Mello dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cesinha Tróia, 1-0. In the 10th minute, Bebeto Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fiori Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Penapolis SC's Fiori Mesquita in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Nilson Vianna hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. David Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesinha Tróia having to interfere. Eugênio Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Cesinha Tróia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling David Mello in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cesinha Tróia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eugênio Quadros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vicente Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fiori Mesquita in the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Mané Tepedino ran back to his position shaking his head. Mané Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If David Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Penapolis SC's Kléber Gonçalves got a free kick in the 90th minute. Cafe AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
