The audience was convinced that Vitório Nunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juninho Moura was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. 10 minutes into the match, Zanetti's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Nunes came free, but Juninho Moura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zézinho Miranda's late challenge caught a Moitinha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zézinho Miranda helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Zanetti's Zézinho Miranda got a free kick in the 15th minute. Serafim Valadares hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Moitinha's Alessandro Moreno proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Moitinha from getting a goal against them. Juninho Moura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Neto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 39 minutes, Alessandro Maranhense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moitinha and the Zanetti players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Moitinha's Alessandro Maranhense got a free kick in the 39th minute. Allan Meireles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Alessandro Moreno when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 45 minutes of play, Zanetti's Allan Meireles made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alessandro Moreno was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
Vitório Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Juninho Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zanetti's Juninho Moura proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Zanetti from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute, Hernani Vianna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vitório Nunes in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juninho Moura saved Zanetti from getting behind. In the 72nd match minute, Zanetti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafim Valadares to maneuver through the defense. If Vitório Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 89 played minutes Zanetti got a freekick which was hit by Hernani Vianna. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitório Nunes in the 91st minute of play forced Zanetti's goalkeeper Juninho Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Allan Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Moreno having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Zanetti fans cheered their team off the field, for while Moitinha had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
