The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Manuel Cordeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Cordeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Afonso Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lenílson Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim de Senna in the 5th minute of play. In the 6th match minute, Niquelandia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Adolfo Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute, Serafim de Senna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lenílson Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 12 minutes into the match, Niquelandia's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Mello came free, but Lenílson Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Fábio Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baltazar da Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A collision led to Guia FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Dionísio Vides hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Niquelandia's Baltazar da Silveira slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luís Fábio Amorim. That made the score 1-1 after 23 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Mello in the 28th minute of play forced Niquelandia's goalkeeper Lenílson Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Niquelandia booed when Guia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionísio Vides didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baltazar da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fábio Amorim having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baltazar da Silveira in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Fábio Amorim saved Guia FC from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afonso Mello made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Niquelandia's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Mello came free, but Lenílson Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Serafim de Senna fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guia FC's protests and gave Serafim de Senna a yellow card for diving instead. In the 59th match minute, Guia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafim de Senna to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Guia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar da Silveira came free, but Luís Fábio Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Miguel Paranaense came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Niquelandia fans jumped to their feet. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lenílson Amaral, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 65 minutes into the match, Guia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar da Silveira came free, but Luís Fábio Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Serafim de Senna came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Guia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serafim de Senna couldn't finish the play. Sandrinho Tinoco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Miguel Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fábio Amorim having to interfere. If Baltazar da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th match minute, Guia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dionísio Vides to maneuver through the defense. When Baltazar da Silveira came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Niquelandia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baltazar da Silveira couldn't finish the play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 97 minutes into the game, Flavinho Melo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Niquelandia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guia FC the free kick. A collision led to Niquelandia getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Flavinho Melo hit a great ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guia FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
