The audience was convinced that Emanuel França's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alberto Brito was relentless in the 2nd minute of the game. Nildo Linhares came out of the goal and Maurício Bertassi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurício Bertassi in the 20th minute of play forced Babia SS's goalkeeper Nildo Linhares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maurício Bertassi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Babia SS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eduardo Brodel was slow to take the kick. During this time Itaracema's players had a chance to rest. Itaracema's Eduardo Brodel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nildo Linhares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 31st minute of the match Eduardo Brodel shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nildo Linhares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Itaracema's Hélder Paranaense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nildo Linhares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Babia SS getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Cristiano Mazza hit a great ball. Hélder Paranaense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nildo Linhares having to make a save. Babia SS's Nildo Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélder Paranaense in the 36th minute of play. Emanuel França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Alberto Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hélder Paranaense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nildo Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurício Bertassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emanuel França to strike the kick off in the second half. Hélder Paranaense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Nildo Linhares made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurício Bertassi in the 56th minute of play forced Babia SS's goalkeeper Nildo Linhares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 59 played minutes Itaracema got a freekick which was hit by Marco Andrade. Maurício Bertassi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Linhares having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gláuber Zilles in the 64th minute of play forced Itaracema's goalkeeper Alberto Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Itaracema defense, Emanuel França kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Brito. The Itaracema fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Brito should have stopped the shot. Babia SS's Gláuber Zilles got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emanuel França sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute, Itaracema's Maurício Bertassi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nildo Linhares. Nildo Linhares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The supporters of Itaracema booed when Babia SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Washington Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball.
