Guaraciaba's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rubens da Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Menezes AD's zone, Marcos Chaves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Eduardo Barros came out of the goal and Marcos Chaves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Guaraciaba's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Elivélton Nóbrega fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Betinho Valle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubens da Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Luís Eduardo Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Abraão in the 97th minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
