Genílson da Cunha came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Imbare's Ramón Bittencourt. But to his dismay, Ramón Bittencourt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 7 minutes of play, Monjolinho SS's Arlindo Santana made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Válter Gaspar was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Monjolinho SS's Arlindo Santana got a free kick in the 10th minute. After having played for 12 minutes, Ramón Bittencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imbare's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramón Bittencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 19th minute Tomé da Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ramón Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Genílson da Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredão Saldanha hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Téo Koehler stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Monjolinho SS's Genílson da Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Monjolinho SS from getting a goal against them. But to his dismay, Arlindo Santana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nando Arósio during the 59th minute. Waldir Barbosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Monjolinho SS's goalkeeper Genílson da Cunha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Imbare booed when Monjolinho SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iuri Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 91 minutes, Tomé da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imbare's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomé da Silveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Imbare walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
