Armando Vander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Rocha in the 34th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Carlinhos Fontes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Chico Antunes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The supporters of Desejo FC booed when Uberaba SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 48 minutes into the game, when Afonso Martins put in a rough tackle. In the 47th minute, one of Uberaba SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Uberaba SS. Durval Sá placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivo Rocha was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Róbson Donato was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uberaba SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Desejo FC the free kick. Róbson Donato kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Desejo FC's Ivo Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 61 minutes into the game, Joélson Romero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Desejo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uberaba SS the free kick. A collision led to Desejo FC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Joélson Romero hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, Uberaba SS's Carlinhos Fontes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chico Antunes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Desejo FC's Armando Vander threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ivo Rocha, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Carlinhos Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 87 played minutes Desejo FC got a freekick which was hit by Elano Oliveira. In the 89th minute, William Moreno ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armando Vander was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. If William Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
