Cafu de Queirós succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 3rd playminute. In the 7th minute Gilson Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeu Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 8 minutes into the game, Cafu de Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Herveiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cajaiba the free kick. A collision led to Herveiras getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Cafu de Queirós hit a great ball. After 14 minutes, Aírton Vieira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Herveiras and the Cajaiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 15 played minutes, Cajaiba's Augusto Tasso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Amadeu Negri came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cajaiba reached it. In the 23rd minute, Gilson Mendonça made a precise shot to the right of Amadeu Negri. Herveiras's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 38th match minute, Herveiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cafu de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Amadeu Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilson Mendonça in the 40th minute of play. A collision led to Cajaiba getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Tiago Gabriel do Valle hit a great ball. If Gilson Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Herveiras's zone, Tiago Gabriel do Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amadeu Negri came out of the goal and Tiago Gabriel do Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tiago Gabriel do Valle stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Herveiras's Tostão Pinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manoel Vinhas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Cafu de Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. If Rony Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fernando Duarte kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. If Aírton Vieira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dedé Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Rony Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manoel Vinhas having to interfere.
