Fabiano Alagoano, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 19th match minute, Curitiba SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani Porto to maneuver through the defense. Pocoes's Afonsinho Pirani got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Afonsinho Pirani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd match minute, Curitiba SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robinho Braga to maneuver through the defense. Róbson Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wellington Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Tales Paulista came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Curitiba SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tales Paulista couldn't finish the play. Afonsinho Pirani might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Róbson Porto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Afonsinho Pirani ran back to his position shaking his head. Robinho Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After having played for 45 minutes, Afonsinho Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pocoes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonsinho Pirani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Róbson Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wellington Senna in the 47th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tales Paulista was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Curitiba SC's zone, Wellington Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Róbson Porto came out of the goal and Wellington Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 56 minutes into the game, Pocoes's Wellington Senna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Róbson Porto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Afonsinho Pirani received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Róbson Porto came out and tried to block the shot, but Afonsinho Pirani slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 61st minute. Ronaldinho Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís Brasil in the 67th minute of the match. Ronaldinho Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Brasil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Afonsinho Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 74 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle.
