Noel Lopez was extremely unlucky when he, in the 5th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Jânio Salgado hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. If Robinho Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Cayua FC's Genílson Marquez got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute of the match Kléber Fantini sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zézinho Cavalcante skillfully saved the ball. Zézinho Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Luís Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 27th match minute, Birra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgílio Bueno to maneuver through the defense. Cayua FC's Jefferson Linares got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Birra's Paulão Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jefferson Linares in the 36th minute of play. The Cayua FC fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Cayua FC's Noel Lopez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 41 played minutes Cayua FC got a freekick which was hit by Genílson Marquez.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jefferson Linares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Cayua FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Diamantino Silveira hit a great ball. Jefferson Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulão Guimarães having to interfere. Zézinho Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Luís Faria in the 63rd minute of play. Diamantino Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Pedro Luís Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Robinho Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulão Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jefferson Linares, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Noel Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Paulão Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Birra getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Kiko Brasil hit a great ball. Pedro Augusto Nascimento took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Paulão Guimarães. Birra's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Noel Lopez in the 86th minute of play forced Birra's goalkeeper Paulão Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulão Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jefferson Linares, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Cayua FC's Noel Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
