The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Canaci FC booed when Quixeramobim FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute, Carlos Fernando Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juan Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamílton Luz having to interfere. When Frank Seco fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quixeramobim FC's protests and gave Frank Seco a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 played minutes Quixeramobim FC got a freekick which was hit by Frank Seco. Hamílton Luz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from José Carlos França. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Quixeramobim FC's goalkeeper Hamílton Luz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hamílton Luz made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Juan Recife sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Canaci FC's José Carlos França seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed José Carlos França the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Canaci FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and José Carlos França had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 25th minute, one of Canaci FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canaci FC. 30 minutes into the game, Luís Pinheiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canaci FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quixeramobim FC the free kick. The referee gave Quixeramobim FC a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Zé Roberto Novaes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Canaci FC's Hílton Lopez. 1-2. Jaime Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Lopez having to interfere. Guto Hames's late challenge caught a Quixeramobim FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guto Hames helped the player get up and apologised. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaime Meira to strike the kick off in the second half. Jaime Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Hílton Lopez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hamílton Luz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After a rather tough play, Quixeramobim FC's Frank Seco got a free kick in the 79th minute. Zé Roberto Novaes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hílton Lopez. Canaci FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Canaci FC's Juan Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute Jaime Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hílton Lopez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hamílton Luz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. An unexpected shot in the 97th minute by Jaime Meira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.
