After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cocos SS! Nilson de Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Doriva Porto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Pedro Paulo Machado came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Cocos SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Paulo Machado couldn't finish the play. In the 13th minute of the match Albertinho Quadros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Doriva Porto skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Pedro Paulo Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cocos SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Paulo Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Mattos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dorian Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Marumbi EC's goalkeeper Luís Mattos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Paulo Machado. Luís Mattos made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Pedro Paulo Machado sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Pedro Paulo Machado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Mattos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Doriva Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renan Aguiar in the 31st minute of play. With a little luck, Marumbi EC's Luís Mattos got control of the ball when Pedro Paulo Machado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Renan Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Doriva Porto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cocos SS's goalkeeper Doriva Porto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dorian Cavalcante struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Luís Mattos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cocos SS. If Dorian Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 48 minutes, Pedro Paulo Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cocos SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Paulo Machado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The wind increased when Dorian Cavalcante made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Marumbi EC's zone, Rômulo Severo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Mattos came out of the goal and Rômulo Severo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Paulo Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Mattos having to interfere. After having played for 57 minutes, Renan Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marumbi EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Renan Aguiar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilian Carneiro in the 62nd minute of play forced Marumbi EC's goalkeeper Luís Mattos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Paulo Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilian Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Pedro Paulo Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Mattos having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Laércio Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute Dorian Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Marumbi EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
