After 15 played minutes, Tenente EC's Caetano Soares shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tarcisio Severo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tenente EC reached it. When Walmir Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Cumbauba FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmir Meirelles couldn't finish the play. 21 minutes into the match, Cumbauba FC's Delfim Teles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jaime Freire narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Tenente EC booed when Cumbauba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Ismael Trancoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
