The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jaime Freire showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Eduardo Cearense in the 3rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Tenente EC's zone, Cléber Carioca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Freire came out of the goal and Cléber Carioca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ismael Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Tenente EC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ismael Trancoso hit a great ball. In the 17th minute Luiz Eduardo Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelinho de Amaral hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Célio Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vítor Cordeiro having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Ismael Trancoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tenente EC's Jaime Freire proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Tenente EC from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd match minute, Tenente EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Luiz Eduardo Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pirajuhy's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Eduardo Cearense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luiz Eduardo Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ismael Trancoso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Eduardo Cearense in the 54th minute of play forced Tenente EC's goalkeeper Jaime Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th match minute, Pirajuhy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Eduardo Cearense to maneuver through the defense. Vítor Cordeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Célio Toledo in the 56th minute. Ismael Trancoso hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Eduardo Cearense in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jaime Freire saved Tenente EC from getting behind. After 63 played minutes Tenente EC got a freekick which was hit by Jarbas Pinho. Ismael Trancoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Vítor Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd match minute, Pirajuhy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vito Porto to maneuver through the defense. Ismael Trancoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 88 minutes into the game, Luís Paulo Machado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pirajuhy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tenente EC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Pirajuhy's Luís Paulo Machado got a free kick in the 88th minute. The audience was convinced that Ismael Trancoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vítor Cordeiro was relentless in the 97th minute of the game. For all the effort they put into the match, the Tenente EC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Pirajuhy.
