Jaeteua SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Evaristo Mattos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valério Silveira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Severo to make the kick off. A collision led to Jaeteua SC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Egídio Matos hit a great ball. 55 minutes into the match, Waldemar Mello notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Ajuda's Valério Silveira. Valério Silveira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 58 minutes into the match, Ajuda's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Paraibano came free, but Valério Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Valério Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaeteua SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
