After a defensive mix-up in Marcondes's zone, Ulisses Ferraz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Valladares came out of the goal and Ulisses Ferraz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustavo Saraiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Fausto Valladares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute, Pedro Luís Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Moisés Gaspar got free in front of the goal in the 15th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Benjamin da Silveira was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Mamanguape's goal looked a bit too open when Moisés Gaspar came free, but Benjamin da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fausto Valladares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Saraiva in the 20th minute of play. With a little luck, Mamanguape's Benjamin da Silveira got control of the ball when Leonel Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Benjamin da Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moisés Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. If Leonel Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustavo Saraiva made a kick off. If Ulisses Ferraz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonel Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin da Silveira having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Mamanguape's goal looked a bit too open when Moisés Gaspar came free, but Benjamin da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Montenegro in the 75th minute of play forced Mamanguape's goalkeeper Benjamin da Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gustavo Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 83 minutes, Moisés Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marcondes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moisés Gaspar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ulisses Ferraz struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Fausto Valladares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mamanguape. In the 88th minute, Leonel Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Benjamin da Silveira. Mamanguape's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Mamanguape's Gustavo Saraiva got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leonel Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Benjamin da Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Marcondes fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mamanguape had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
