In the 2nd minute, Jeremias Pereira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 5 minutes into the match, Marabitana AD's goal looked a bit too open when Jano Mandrak came free, but Hermínio Paes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 11 minutes, Ronaldão Cerezo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alegrias's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Cerezo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ronaldão Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronaldão Cerezo charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldão Cerezo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st match minute, Alegrias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldão Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Marabitana AD's Hélio Mello threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mauro Neiva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After having played for 28 minutes, Ronaldão Cerezo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alegrias's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Cerezo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ronaldão Cerezo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mauro Neiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 48 minutes into the match, Marabitana AD's Ronaldão Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélio Mello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Neiva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Marabitana AD's Mauro Neiva in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alegrias's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Alegrias getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Daniel de Medeiros hit a great ball. Ronaldão Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélio Mello having to interfere. If Jano Mandrak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Marabitana AD booed when Alegrias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel de Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Ronaldão Queiroz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. During the 69th minute of the match Daniel de Medeiros completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Daniel de Medeiros a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Alegrias getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Daniel de Medeiros hit a great ball. Ronaldão Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Hélio Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélio Mello came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Marabitana AD's Mauro Neiva. But to his dismay, Mauro Neiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Mauro Neiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Carlos Marques fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marabitana AD's protests and gave Carlos Marques a yellow card for diving instead. Carlos Marques hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match.
