The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Adelino Garcia charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adelino Garcia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 2nd match minute, Itaquera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Garcia to maneuver through the defense. Armindo Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hílton Travassos, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. If Edgar Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dito Souza having to interfere. Guajuru's Dito Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Guajuru from getting a goal against them. After 14 played minutes Itaquera got a freekick which was hit by Adelino Garcia. If Alessandro Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dito Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Alves, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Alessandro Peixoto scored 1-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dito Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute, Guajuru's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Edgar Alves fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Armindo Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hílton Travassos in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the game, José Augusto Seco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Armindo Terra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Itaquera's Alessandro Peixoto got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

In the 52nd minute Alessandro Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dito Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgar Alves scored 2-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dito Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 56 minutes into the match, Guajuru's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Alves came free, but Dito Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Itaquera getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Duarte Pereira hit a great ball. 61 minutes in the game, José Augusto Seco dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Hílton Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Armindo Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Adelino Garcia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes into the match, Edgar Alves notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Guajuru's Dito Souza. Dito Souza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Augusto Seco got free with Armindo Terra in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alessandro Peixoto in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dito Souza saved Guajuru from getting behind. If José Augusto Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Alves scored 4-2 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dito Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Guajuru's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
