Alexandre Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Percival de Brito might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robinho Macedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percival de Brito ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the game, Cambota's Alexandre Azevedo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Walmir Figueiredo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 21stth minute of the game José Varela who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Catajal's Walmir Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Percival de Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Alexandre Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robinho Macedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elias de Medeiros's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 30th minute, Alexandre Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Agenor Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute José Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walmir Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walmir Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Cambota's goalkeeper Robinho Macedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Percival de Brito. Elias de Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Varela to make the kick off. Robinho Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival de Brito in the 53rd minute of play. Alexandre Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Robinho Macedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Catajal's Walmir Figueiredo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Catajal from getting a goal against them. If Percival de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th minute Alexandre Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Catajal booed when Cambota was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aloísio Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Paraibano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robinho Macedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. After 76 minutes, Aloísio Faria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cambota and the Catajal players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Cambota getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Aloísio Faria hit a great ball. Percival de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilson Cerezo hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. 84 minutes into the match, Catajal's Vito Fonseca broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cambota's zone, Alexandre Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robinho Macedo came out of the goal and Alexandre Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Percival de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robinho Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Paraibano in the 91st minute of the match. If José Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
