The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Diogo Novaes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tião Xavier's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Yan do Vale hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Araioses's Arlindo Romero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto de Medeiros in the 7th minute of play. After 7 played minutes Araioses got a freekick which was hit by Yan do Vale. In the 15th minute Beto de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlindo Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Valoes AD's Digo Nogueira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Tião Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Araioses fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tião Xavier couldn't finish the play. Diogo Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Xavier in the 23rd minute of the match. The supporters of Araioses booed when Valoes AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luís Rosado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valoes AD's Diogo Novaes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Valoes AD from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Araioses booed when Valoes AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, Telmo Toscano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Valoes AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 43rd minute, Narciso de Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yan do Vale struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Diogo Novaes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Araioses. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Telmo Toscano made a kick off. Sílvio Luís Rosado hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Diogo Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel Toledo in the 61st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Valoes AD's Fabrício Maciel got a free kick in the 64th minute. Sandrinho Faria was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 65th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Diogo Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jano Breckenfeld, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. 68 minutes into the game, Evaristo Dante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Valoes AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Araioses the free kick. Evaristo Dante kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Tião Xavier made a precise shot to the right of Diogo Novaes. Valoes AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. A collision led to Valoes AD getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Sílvio Luís Rosado hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Tião Xavier sped through Valoes AD's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Diogo Novaes. Noel Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Novaes having to interfere. Telmo Toscano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Arlindo Romero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 86 minutes into the match, Valoes AD's goal looked a bit too open when Tião Xavier came free, but Diogo Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 88 played minutes Valoes AD got a freekick which was hit by Pedrão Baptista. Yan do Vale's late challenge caught a Valoes AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yan do Vale helped the player get up and apologised. In the 91st match minute, Araioses was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yan do Vale to maneuver through the defense. If Telmo Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Araioses had won after a very even match.
