Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Cibrao EC's Abel de Queiroz started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Maurício Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abel de Queiroz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 5 played minutes Sotero got a freekick which was hit by Armando Seco. Edgar Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel de Queiroz in the 7th minute of play. After having played for 10 minutes, Cido de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sotero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cido de Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th match minute, Sotero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Antunes to maneuver through the defense. Elias Ramalho, 14 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 16th minute, Duarte Machado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgar Zonta was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience was convinced that Duarte Machado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edgar Zonta was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Jean da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Davi Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, José Antunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sotero's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cibrao EC the free kick. José Antunes hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Duarte Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Murilo Passos during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Armando Seco fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sotero's protests and gave Armando Seco a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th minute, Armando Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cido de Alcântara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fiori Machado during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fiori Machado hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. The supporters of Sotero booed when Cibrao EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 80 played minutes Sotero got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Terra. Duarte Machado struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Edgar Zonta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cibrao EC. Abel de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgar Zonta having to interfere. Jean da Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davi Donato having to interfere. After some careless play in the Cibrao EC defense, Leonardo Terra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Davi Donato. The Cibrao EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Davi Donato should have stopped the shot. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
